Abandoned Bobcat Kitten Tries To Get Man To Adopt Her

October 7, 2025

A young man in Tennessee got quite the surprise when an unexpected visitor showed up on his porch — a tiny bobcat kitten that seemed convinced it had just found its new mom.

He shared a series of adorable photos showing the fluffy little wildcat lounging comfortably by his side.

“It showed up this morning, being surprisingly chill,” he wrote. “It let me sit next to it and pet it. At some point, it showed me its belly and started to purr.”

Completely smitten (and slightly confused), he joked, “Did this thing just imprint on me lol?”

Realizing this wasn’t a typical housecat encounter, his mother contacted local wildlife services, who confirmed that the kitten’s behavior was very unusual for its age and size.

They asked the family to keep the animal comfortable overnight until professionals could safely take her in.

Hours later, after returning home from school, he shared an update on the smitten kitten.

"This adorable little girl is such a sweet heart. The second I walked up my porch stairs, she meowed and practically came running, asking for attention. She is currently napping halfway on my lap. I'm watching her movements and not letting claws or teeth close."

The internet quickly fell in love with the story — and, of course, the hilarious comments.

One person jokingly blamed the “Cat Distribution System” (CDS) for the mix-up:

“This is a rare glitch in the CDS where the Identification Department accidentally misidentifies a wild cat as a standard issue cat… this should be reported and the wild kitten should NOT be approached or adopted. A SIC will be sent to you soon as a replacement, along with an apology.”

Thankfully, he did the right thing by reaching out to wildlife experts. It’s never easy to let go of such a sweet little visitor, but it’s the best thing for her.
