Medic Who Helped Save Young Girl’s Life Surprises Her On First Day Back To School
August 5, 2025
When Adriana was seriously injured in a lawn mower accident earlier this year, one of the first people to help her was Ricky Powell - a medic with Douglas County Fire/EMS.
He was calm, compassionate, and focused during those critical first moments, helping ensure she received the care she urgently needed.
But Ricky’s support didn’t end there.

Ricky and Adriana
On Adriana’s first day back to school, Ricky showed up again—this time not with medical gear, but with flowers, gifts from the fire department, and a big, warm smile.
Adriana’s face lit up the moment she saw him. She immediately started skipping toward him, clearly overjoyed to see the familiar face who had once been by her side in a frightening time.
In one of the most difficult experiences of her life, Ricky didn’t just help save her—he reminded her that she was never alone.
Now, he’s not just part of her rescue story—he’s part of her recovery.
