Opossum Eats Entire Costco Cake, Forced To Go To Rehab
February 19, 2025
Some cravings just can’t wait—especially when chocolate is involved!
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab shared a hilarious rescue story about a Virginia opossum with a serious sweet tooth. This mischievous marsupial was admitted after reportedly devouring an entire Costco chocolate cake—yes, the whole thing!

While a massive sugar rush might sound fun, chocolate is not safe for wildlife. So, after her indulgent feast, the “cake bandit” was placed under careful watch for recovery (and a much-needed diet reset).
However, she hasn’t been thrilled about the center’s strict ‘zero chocolate’ policy—a struggle many of us can relate to!

"We’ve all been there, girl," one viewer sympathized.
Another chimed in, "I relate to this opossum on a spiritual level," while someone jokingly added, "To be fair, if I ate a whole Costco chocolate cake, I’d probably be panting a lot too!"
To celebrate the "sweetest scandal of the week", the rescue has even launched a custom "Opossum Cake Bandit" t-shirt—with proceeds supporting their mission to save native wildlife.
