Teacher Asks Third Graders To 'Complete The Proverb,' And Their Answers Are Pure Gold
October 9, 2024
In a fun classroom exercise, teacher Em Powderly challenged her third grade students to complete popular old sayings, such as "the early bird gets the worm."
What unfolded was a hilarious and creative display of imagination, as the students only had the first half of each saying to work with.
Em shared her favorite responses on TikTok:

"Keep your friends close or have deep regret."
This next one is going to be my new life saying.

@empowds on TikTok
"Hope for the best, forget the rest."

"The early bird finds its home."

@empowds on TikTok
"The grass is always greener, the sky is always bluer."

@empowds on TikTok
"Don't count your chickens, count your cows."

@empowds on TikTok
"The squeeky wheel has a mouse in it."
This next one is actually good.

@empowds on TikTok
"Don't judge a book by its glary look."
Another daily motto coming up...

@empowds on TikTok
"Those who live in glass houses always see the light."

@empowds on TikTok
"Any job worth doing is a vet."
This next one clearly has a new sibling at home.

@empowds on TikTok
"Don't cry over babies that are annoying."
I need to know more about this next one.

@empowds on TikTok
"Don't teach your grandmother anything smart because she does not need to know anything!"

@empowds on TikTok
"The best things in life are being the inside of you and doing what your heart says."

@empowds on TikTok
"When in Rome, go to civilization."
Weren't these responses fantastic? But wait, we have more!
A parent at a different school shared a similar activity completed by their third grader, and some of the answers are absolutely hilarious.
