The Panda Dog Is Taking Over China... But It's Not What You Think
May 14, 2014
There's a new craze in China right now and it's easy to see why. The Panda Dog is as cute as it sounds...
This is not a mix between Pandas and Dogs. They are Chow Chows groomed to look like fluffy Pandas.
Pet shop owner Hsin Ch'en told Central European News that he can't keep up with demand for the chow chows who are dyed to look like pandas. And he claims the technique is not at all harmful to the dogs.
"There are no chemicals or cruelty involved," Ch'en said. "I perfected the technique here and now it is spreading across the country. With a bit of careful grooming and coloring it is easy to turn a chow into a panda dog in about two hours. Then the look will stay with the dog for around six weeks and the owners bring them back for some touching up."
