Abandoned Dog Found Snuggling A Teddy Bear Finds Forever Home

A local dog rescuer was driving through a neighborhood in Montgomery, Texas, when she spotted a dog sleeping with a teddy bear on the grass between two properties.

It's unclear whether the dog was abandoned with the teddy bear or if he had pulled it from someone's trash, but it was clear the dog was homeless and snuggling the stuffed animal for comfort.

"As I turned the corner, I saw him lying there with the bear," Kourtnee Blount told The Dodo. "It broke my heart. It was so sad"

Blount asked around the neighborhood to see if anyone knew the dog, but no one claimed him. Some residents reported seeing the dog hanging around the area for the past month.

Blount decided to post photos on the pup on Facebook and asked if anyone could rescue him. Destiny Swatzel volunteered for the job.

Swatzel found the dog and took him home to get cleaned up.

"While in the car, he threw up chicken bones, pieces of plastic, rocks and leaves," Swatzel said. "He clearly had been surviving on the streets."

Later that day Swatzel's friend, Mary St. Dizier, saw the dog and immediately fell in love with him.

"I cried," Dizier told The Dodo. "I knew he was staying with me."

Dizier adopted "Blue" and now he sleeps beside her in her warm bed.
