Pharrell Williams' Reaction To This Music Student's Song Is So Genuine. I Love It!
June 2, 2016
As part of the 50th Anniversary Artist-In-Residency program, Pharrell Williams was invited to host a masterclass for music students at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He listens to students' projects, offers constructive criticism, and discusses the nature of the creative process.
In this video he meets with a student named Maggie Rogers, who grew up picking a banjo on the rural Eastern shore of Maryland. After playing folk music her whole life, she fell in love with dance music while visiting France and decided to blend the two genres into one.
She nervously plays her original song for Pharrell, and his reaction is wonderful.
