2 Million People Stopped Everything To Hold Hands And Create A Human Chain For This Amazing Reason
August 24, 2015
On August 23, 1989, approximately two million people joined hands to form a human chain spanning over 370 miles across the three Baltic states - Estonian SSR, Latvian SSR, and Lithuanian SSR, republics of the Soviet Union.
The emotionally captivating event presented an opportunity for the Baltic activists to publicize and protest the illegal Soviet occupation in the Baltic states and position the question of Baltic independence not as a political matter, but as a moral issue.
And they did it without social media.
