Formerly paralyzed from the neck down, and now living his dream
April 25, 2012
A former quadriplegic has been able to fulfill one of his lifetime dreams - building Corvette's.
Patrick Rummerfield is one of today's most sought after motivational speakers. His story is one of a kind.
After being in a near fatal high speed car accident which left him paralyzed from the neck down, he has since made a full recovery and will not settle for anything but success. His family was even told by doctors that he was probably not going to make it due to the condition he was left in after the crash. His neck was broken in 4 places.
After his miracle recovery, doctor's assured him he was never going to be able to walk again. Wrong again.
"I was lying there, daydreaming about racing a Corvette and playing basketball when my left toe moved," he recalled.
Walking and talking, Patrick has done things no one else has. He became the first quadriplegic to finish an Iron Man race. If you do not know what that is, it requires you to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and then finish it off with a full marathon run (26.2 miles).
Patrick is the first full functioning quadriplegic in the world.
The moral of this story? Never give up on your dreams. Anything is possible.
