On January 31, authorities were alerted that the child had wandered away from home around 8:30 p.m. With freezing temperatures adding urgency to the search, a swift response was imperative.

Numerous Auburn Police Officers and Massachusetts State Troopers mobilized in the Pakachoag Hill area of Auburn to locate the missing child. Among them were detectives from the Auburn Police Department's Detective Bureau, further intensifying the search efforts.

However, it was the partnership between Officer Ljunggren and his four-legged companion, K9 Biza, that ultimately turned the tide.

"Biza was able to pick up a scent and began to track the scent. K9 Biza tracked for a length of over two miles and led Officers to an area where evidence showed that the child had been present a short time earlier," APD said in a statement.

Additional officers converged on the area and found the child a short time later.

Reflecting on the successful outcome, APD expressed immense pride in K9 Biza's unwavering dedication and the collaborative efforts of all involved.

"We are proud of the hard work put in by K9 Biza and are happy to report a positive outcome!" stated a spokesperson for the department.
