Charles Ramsey: A humble hero after saving Amanda Berry in Ohio kidnapping
May 9, 2013
Charles Rasmsey is being heralded as a hero after saving Amanda Berry and two other women who have been missing for nearly 10 years. He has become an instant internet sensation for his bright personality which has already resulted in auto-tuned songs of his interviews, just like Antoine Dodson.
Ramsey is a hero no doubt, but it's his attitude towards life that makes him admirable. He doesn't want a reward for his actions.
"I'm a Christian and an American, I'm just like you," he told Anderson Cooper. "We bleed the same blood. Put our pants on the same way... It's just that you got to put that being a coward, 'I don't want to get into anybody's business,' you got to put that away for a minute.
Ramsey was told the FBI is offering a reward for assisting in the rescue of the missing women. Years ago the FBI publicly offered $25,000 for information on Amanda Berry's disappearance.
"I tell you what you do, give it to them,” Ramsey told CNN. "Because if folks been following this case since last night, you been following me since last night, you know I got a job anyway."
Ramsey works as a dishwasher at a restaurant called Hodge's Cleveland. The restaurant has been making "Cleveland's Hero" T-shirts featuring Ramsey's face. Proceeds from the shirts will reportedly go to the victims.
