17 year-old returns lost wallet with $1000 cash inside
September 20, 2012
A local barber's day was made when he received a call from a local Safeway store explaining that someone had turned in his wallet.
Certain that the wallet would not have the $1000 of cash inside and a full checkbook, Harold Hall rushed back to the store to claim his missing property.
Not a single dollar was taken out. Not one check was missing from his checkbook. Everything was there down to the last penny.
Hall asked the employee at the store who returned the wallet and he pointed to a 17 year-old standing nearby. Hall tried to thank him by giving him reward money for saving him a headache, but the young man respectfully refused.
"He said, 'I can't take that. It was your money and you worked hard for it. You deserve to have it back,'" Hall told reporters.
Hall insisted on meeting his parents to let them know what a great job they did raising such an honest young man.
