June 25, 2015

"We have to help each other," says Checker Yellow Cabs driver, Urga Adunga, who drove a family of ducks to safety.

"I didn't want to pass them because there is no way for them to escape from the road; it's blocked all the way," he told the CBC. Adunga said he put his hazard lights on, got out of his vehicle, and grabbed the mother duck.

Then, with the help of some others, he placed the duck and ducklings in his cab.

Adunga drove the ducks to the nearest river and dropped them off - a ride that would have cost a human passenger $21.

"As a human it is our responsibility to protect those animals, and nature and the environment," Adunga said. "I could do it again too. Not only the animals, humans too. We have to rescue each other, we have to help each other."
