Two Year-Old Forges An Unlikely Friendship, Says Goodbye To His Best Friend
June 8, 2015
A Texas toddler got his first grasp of what friendship is by befriending the man who collects his family's recycling.
Every Friday, Deacon looked forward to seeing his first friend, O'Dee. Deacon's home was on his recycling route.
One particular Friday in May, however, Deacon's mom planned a special party.
"Well it's our last day seeing my brother's best friend," said Deacon's older sister, Ada.
It's a farewell party because Deacon is about to become a big brother. The family had to buy a bigger house, and they're moving off of O'Dee's route.
When O'Dee pulled up, the family took photos with him, gave him gifts and waved goodbye as he continued on his route.
O'Dee, Oladele Olurunrinu, said he didn't initially realize how much he meant to the little boy, but he can see it now.
"I'm gonna miss them too," Olurunrinu said.
As for the name of the new baby? Deacon's mom is thinking "O'Dee."
