This Dog Was Finally Adopted After Five Years Of Waiting When This Photo Went Viral On Facebook
April 5, 2015
After five long years in an animal shelter, Chester was finally adopted - all because of this photo.

Facebook
The manager of the North Awl Animal Welfare League, Gabby Stroup, shared the photo on Facebook and it immediately went viral.
"I posted the original photo on the League's Facebook page and by later that day there were over 6,000 shares," Stroup said. "Someone suggested I make him his own page and I did, at about 3:30 p.m., and that evening there were close to 2,000 likes."
Stroup said the phone did not stop ringing. People were calling from all over the place - Illinois, North Carolina, Mississippi, Michigan, Australia and more.
But when Dana Dor and her family came to visit Chester, Stroup knew it was a perfect match for Chester.

Dana Dor said that Chester's loving personality was a testament to all the love he had been given at the animal shelter: "They raised him. He's been so loved."
The shelter plans to use Chester's Facebook page to share pictures of other long term residents.
