The Truth Behind Doilies

An older Scottish woman lay dying in her bedroom as she called her husband to her side.
"Dear, there is a tin box on the dresser drawers. The contents are for you."
Taking down the box, the elderly man opens it to find two doilies and a stack of cash.
"What are these doilies about?"
"Well, when we first married my mother told me the key to a happy marriage was to knit doilies whenever I felt unhappy, angry, or disappointed in you."
"Oh my dear, there are only two doilies here. I feel so happy to know you were seldom grieved by me. But where is all the money from?"
"For all the doilies I sold!"
