Dogs Love Music And Their Favorite Genre Is Reggae!

January 27, 2017

The Scottish SPCA, Scotland's animal welfare charity, has released new research in partnership with University of Glasgow that suggests dogs have different music tastes.

So if you've ever wondered what type of music your dog prefers, put on some Bob Marley and watch what happens.

After playing a variety of music for their test subjects, the researchers concluded that dogs were particularly interested in reggae music. The dogs "showed the highest positive changes in behavior" while listening to this genre, Professor Neil Evans said in a press release.

The study also suggested that dogs appreciate all music, regardless of genre, spending "significantly more time lying and significantly less time standing" while it was being played, the BBC reports.

For this particular study, five genres were tested - soft rock, Motown, pop, reggae, and classical. So, the jury is still out on how dogs feel about house music and heavy metal.
