A Happy Ending To A 13 Year Quest To Find The Owner Of This Photo Found At Ground Zero

September 13, 2014

Since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, one dedicated woman has tried to find the owner of a crumpled wedding photo she discovered at Ground Zero in New York.

Elizabeth Stringer Keefe has been posting the photo online every year around 9/11 in hopes of finding its owner.

After years of getting nowhere, this time the picture finally took off. Since Thursday night, it was retweeted more than 58,000 times and led to a Reddit post where thousands of users tried to help locate the owner. It worked.

On Friday evening, Keefe posted this:

"The picture was at my desk in the World Trade Center, Tower Two, on the 77th floor," Fred Mahe told Boston Magazine. He said that the photo was originally taken during a friend's wedding in Aspen, Colorado, in 2001.
