Veteran's anonymous note on stranger's car goes viral on Facebook
March 26, 2013
An anonymous note left on Samantha Ford's car while she was with her two children at a Dunkin Donuts near Boston left her in tears of joy.
At first glance, Samantha thought it was a ticket on her car windshield. As she approached the car, she noticed it was a note written on the back of an envelope.
The envelope contained two $20 bills and the following note:
"I noticed the sticker on the back of your car. Take your hero out to dinner when he comes home. Thank you both for service. Him deployed and you for waiting. - United States Veteran, God Bless"
The sticker on the back of Samantha's car read, "Half my heart is in Afghanistan," which is where her boyfriend is currently deployed.
After being so touched by this kind gesture from a stranger, Samantha posted the story on Our Deployment:101 Facebook's page. The post went viral receiving nearly 2 million likes, thousands of shares, and countless comments.
Samantha looks forward to that dinner when her boyfriend returns, but she intends to pay it forward in the mean time.
"It's amazing to know that there are still people in this world as beautiful as this individual," she said.
