Spiderman and Captain America show up at childrens' hospital windows
October 25, 2012
A window washing company in Memphis, Tennessee put on new uniforms this week. In an attempt to help sick children heal, this crew of window washers repelled down a 12 story hospital building in Spiderman and Captain America costumes.
As a child hoping to get better, what else could one ask for other than seeing one of your favorite superheroes appear at your bedside window.
Jordan Emerson and his coworker Danny Oszaniec pitched the idea to their boss at American National Skyline about a month ago. The result was a huge success.
"The kids always come up to the window and ask us, ‘Are you Spiderman?’" Oszaniec told ABCNews.com. "So I came up with the idea of, ‘Why don’t we just show up as Spiderman?’"
The actions of Oszaniec and Emerson made a huge impact on the kids. They forgot they were sick for a moment, and had a chance to laugh and smile---an important moment in the healing process.
"It’s a real thing," said hospital spokeswoman Sara Burnett. "When a child’s mind gets off their pain and their sickness, it makes them heal, it makes them relax and it helps them recover and get better quicker."
The American National Skyline company plans on returning to the hospital as superheroes in the future. Requests for Batman and other famous crime fighters were made during their 4-hour work day at the hospital.
Although Emerson and Oszaniec do not possess real-life super powers, everyone can agree they are real-life heroes.
