This Farmer Is Feeding His Entire Town After Learning His Son's Classmates Are Hungry

March 2, 2017

Jonathan Lawler never expected to see hunger in his very own farming community.

Lawler owns a large farm in a rural farming community outside Indianapolis, and each year, the farm sells about 700,000 pounds of food.

So when his son came home from school one day and told him "about kids who take home food from the food pantry," he came up with a solution.

By transforming his for-profit farm into a food aid organization, the farm's food will now go to food banks and soup kitchens. Lawler is also encouraging other farmers to pitch in and donate a portion of their harvests to help the hungry.
