This Female Soldier Fell To The Ground, About To Give Up. What Happened Next Is Amazing

May 6, 2015

75% of all Expert Field Medical Badge candidates, both male and female, fail the Foot March. Captain Sarah Cudd, weighed down by a 35-pound backpack and rifle, became one of the few to earn the badge.

The video below is of Cudd finishing the 12-mile road march, the last event of the EFMB, that must be completed within 3 hours. Cudd struggles to get to the finish line, falling twice before finally getting up as soldiers cheer her on.

The School's Program Manager Lloyd Manson of the U.S. Army described Sarah's last few moments before completing the course:

"It took heart, guts, determination, falling down and getting up, and a little motivation from the crowd to get across the finish line."
