Thank You To The Lady Who Hugged Me In The Restaurant This Evening
By PM • October 1, 2017
My SO and I have been together for over 12 years, and married for more than half of that. We've gone the some rough times, but recently things have been so bad I'm honestly not sure if we're going good to make it. It's been awful.
We were having a bad day already, and plans came up to meet SO's family for dinner. We were fighting in the car on the ride over, and continued arguing when we got to the restaurant and parked. I was trying so hard to make everything better. It was really busy, so I had to park in a spot near a window. Finally SO had enough, slammed the car door and stomped into the building leaving me trying to hold it together in the car. I took a few minutes to try to compose myself, then went in.
I had a hard time finding the family, and as I was walking around a woman heading out stopped me and asked if she could hug me. She said she saw me outside and it looked like I needed a hug. I broke down on her shoulder. She just hugged me again and told me everything will be ok. I've never needed comfort more in my life. And this complete stranger was willing to be there for me.
So, Bridget, I'm sure you'll never see this, but thank you so much for your moment of support. I don't know what you saw, but thank you so much for not judging me and offering me love instead. The world needs more people like you.
