It might not look like much from the outside, but for Ra Paulette, it's what's on the inside that counts.

The American artist has spent the past 10 years working on his masterpiece inside a cave in New Mexico.

He works alone with only the company of his dog, carving his designs into the sandstone walls.

"Manual labor is the foundation of my self expression," Pauelette writes on his website. "To do it well, to do it beautifully, is a 'whole-person' activity, engaging mental and emotional strengths as well as physical strength."
