Meet Qizai - The Only Brown Panda In The World!
October 17, 2016
The world's only brown panda is thriving, but he had a very tough childhood.
Qizai was abandoned by his mother when he was just two months old, and went through a lot of bullying by other pandas due to the color of his fur.
Now, at 7 years old, he is the only brown panda in the world!
Qizai's mother's fur is believed to have been black and white, which makes him even more intriguing. Scientists guess that it's due to some genetic mutation.
Qizai was rescued by the Foping Panda Valley and spends his days with a personal care-taker. He weighs 220 pounds and eats up to 44 pounds of bamboo every day.
Chinese experts are planning to find Qizai a mate. Being able to observe and study the appearance of his child, researchers would get a step closer to solving the mystery of his brown fur.
"He is slower than the other pandas, but he is also cuter," Qizai’s keeper told DailyMail, describing the bear as a 'gentle, funny and adorable' animal.
