Dee Snider Turns 'We're Not Gonna Take It' Into Piano Ballad Aimed At Curing Childhood Cancer

August 23, 2016

Dee Snider has transformed Twisted Sister's 80s anthem "We're Not Gonna Take It" into an emotional piano ballad to help raise awareness for Criss Angel's HELP (Heal Every Life Possible) charity.

Angel directed the video in the deserts outside of Las Vegas, with Snider's performance juxtaposed with images of young people shaving their heads and real footage of hospitalized children battling cancer.

Childhood cancer receives only 4% of U.S. federal funding for research and is the number one cause of death by disease among children.

"Dee and I have known each other since the 1990s and he was a strong proponent of mine for years. We are both from Long Island, or as we like to think of it, 'Strong Island,' and his record publishing company gave me the rights to the song and it is our anthem for gratis," Angel told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "Dee was unbelievably generous with his time and participation."

According to Angel's website, "100% of your donation will go directly to this fight; NOT one cent will be deducted for ANY expenses, salaries, or overhead."

Angel has funded the operations of the foundation out of his own pocket since its inception in 2008. It has now become his life's mission when recently his own child, Johnny Crisstopher, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2015 at 20 months old.
