This Futuristic 'Singing Tree' In England Produces Eerie Sounds As The Wind Blows
September 4, 2016
Looking like the wreckage of an alien space craft, The Singing Ringing Tree is a wind powered sound sculpture resembling a tree set in the landscape of the Pennine hill range overlooking Burnley, in Lancashire, England.
With the slightest breeze, the collection of steel pipes produces an eerie sound covering a range of octaves. The harmonic and singing qualities of the tree were produced by tuning the pipes according to their length and by adding holes to the underside of each.
